TfL

[edit]

Considering 99% of users will have enough colour depth to see the RGB values, it seems a bit pointless down-grading the accuracy of the colours for the few that have low-colour displays. ed g2stalk 12:07, 29 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

London Underground

[edit]

Good idea of yours to move the picture on London Underground upward to better explain why the Tube is called the Tube. Now if only we could get Londoners to stop calling other systems "the (Paris, Berlin, Tokyo, etc.) tube" as well... Regards, ProhibitOnions 19:26, 7 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

For the benefit of anyone reading the above, I have noooo idea why this guy decided to claim the edit involved was vandalism.. --Mike 13:38, 27 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Did you mean to edit the Victoria Line article to read south-west to north-east? If I've read the differences correctly it looks like you've added in the west, but then in your edit summary said it should just be south (with which I agree.) Nice userboxes, btw :). Station lists

[edit]

One could say the same about the original edits. I left a note on the user's talk page explaining my reverts. Amongst other things, he had removed information, and used an NY subway template. ed g2stalk 23:22, 15 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Circle Line

[edit]

Yes I think it's true, the trains do vary between the different C stock routes during the day. However, none of the routes actually results in the train being turned around so the trains are still all facing the same way on their return to Hammersmith as when they left in the morning. So while they would have had normal wheel wear on the Wimbledon-Edgware Road service and on the H&C, the wear would still be made uneven while running on the Circle. I think this is the issue; it's mentioned in the London Underground handbook, and also here. That site says it's Whitechapel where they reverse (I had presumed it was Aldgate East) so I'll change the article.

[edit]

Yeah, I see what you mean, and in any case any variant of "non commercial" is not compatible with the GFDL or Wikipedia. I only posted it on Wikipedia:Copyright_problems/Fair_use_claims#Fair_use_claims_needing_a_second_opinion to see if it's use illustrating Tube map could be justified as "fair use" (personally I'd have thought a low res version could have been). In any case, I see it's now been deleted by User:ed g2s. Thanks for your input (and by the way, I see no reason why you shouldn't feel free to comment on that page!). Cheers Mike, really nice of you to drop me that line. This is the first article I've contributed to significantly and its made me realise how much hard work others who have created 10, 50 or 100 articles, and contribute to many more, put in. Anyway, now it has a peer review and its a good article nominee a few more eds may flesh it out and jazz it up. Happy Pedying --KaptKos 09:09, 25 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

TRP

[edit]

Hi Mike, Thanks for clarifying that the piece was an editorial and not a letter to the editor. I believe the biggest difference between opinion/blogs/editorials and real news article is that the latter is fact checked. TRP is indeed notable, verifiable might be a different issue. Cheers.--Paul E. Ester 14:58, 23 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, controlling human. Please go read the comments right at the top of Nigel Molesworth before your bot goes and mucks up the spelling there again. This is why automated spelling checkers can be considered harmful in some circumstances.. --Mike 22:47, 13 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, my apologies. I've added an exception to my bot. It will ignore any misspellings in that article from now on. CmdrObot 22:53, 13 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for Image:Underground roundel sign at Epping.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Underground roundel sign at Epping.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 23:09, 9 April 2007 (UTC)

Date: 13:00 onwards, Sunday 10 August 2008

Venue: Penderel's Oak pub, Holborn WC1 map

More information: Wikipedia:Meetup/London 12

Hello,

I noticed that you have listed yourself as a Wikipedian in London, so I thought you might like to come to one of our monthly social meetups. The next one is going to be on Sunday 10 August, which might well be rather short notice, but if you can't come this time, we try to have one every second Sunday of the month.

If you haven't been before, these meetups are mainly casual social events for Wikipedia enthusiasts in which we chat about Wikipedia and any other topics we fancy. It's a great way to meet some very keen Wikipedians, but we'd also love for you to come along if you're interested in finding out more about Wikipedia, other Wikimedia projects, or other collaborative wiki projects too.

The location is a pub that is quite quiet and family friendly on a Sunday lunchtime, so hopefully younger Wikipedians will also feel welcome and safe. Alcohol consumption is certainly not required!

Although the meetups are popular, many UK-based editors still don't know about them. It would be great to welcome some fresh faces, so I hope you can come along.

Yours,

James F. (talk) 09:27, 3 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Deletion discussion about The Religious Policeman

[edit]

Hello, Mpk,

I wanted to let you know that there's a discussion about whether The Religious Policeman should be deleted. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/The Religious Policeman .

If you're new to the process, articles for deletion is a group discussion (not a vote!) that usually lasts seven days. If you need it, there is a guide on how to contribute. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

Thanks, JerrySa1 (talk) 22:32, 6 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
